Here’s another new Banh Mi shop in Singapore, except that you would notice that the bread is not quite the same as the typical.

Baguette & Coffee has a rather straight-forward (maybe boring) name.

The brand already has two Vietnamese cafes despite being relatively new – one tucked away at Joo Chiat and the other at Tan Quee Lan Street (a stone’s throw from Bugis MRT station).

The outlets are small but inviting, good for a quick bite.

They serve up “Banh mi que” which translates to “bread stick” in Vietnamese, and is a type of smaller, thinner version of the traditional Vietnamese baguette.

The shop calls this the “DaLat bread stick”.

The baguettes are stuffed with an array of fillings ranging from the Traditional ($6.50), Shredded Chicken with Passion Fruit Sauce ($7.50), Jambon ($8), Smoked Pork Belly ($8), Grilled Pork Sausage ($7.50), Grilled Pork ($8), Sausage ($7.50) to Mixed Cold Ham & Cheese ($8).

I was recommended the Grilled Pork Banh Mi ($8), and was first intrigued by the length of the bread.

Light and airy on the inside, the long stick had a crusty exterior with a crisp and slightly charred bite. I suppose this makes the bread easier to eat on-the-go.

The fillings were still substantial (for its price), with savoury tender pork, tangy pickled vegetables, and fresh herbs all together.

Condiments egg butter sauce, chilli sauce, and soy sauce are the final touches that elevate the experience.

However, I did experience quite a wait even though I was the only customer then. Something to note if you are in a rush.

Prices are reasonable, making it a great spot for anyone looking for a quick, affordable meal. And there are quite a number of other Vietnamese bites to explore.
