[Bangkok] Oh My Godmother is probably one of the most striking brunch cafes at the new EmSphere (G floor), but I did OMG-ed a little when I saw the prices.

More on that later.

OMGM is a new dining concept from the iberry group, offering a fusion of Western and Asian flavours.

Alongside savoury dishes, the restaurant is collaborating with Godmother, a Vietnamese chiffon cake brand, to provide soft and moist chiffon cakes with a variety of flavours.

The iberry group owns many successful F&Bs, from Kub Kao Kub, ThongSmith (Siamese boat noodles), Ros’niyom, Charoen Gang, Burn Busaba, Rongsi Pochana, to An Com An Ca.

Overseen by Chef Chalee Kader from the 1-Star Michelin restaurant Wana Yook, the menu offers Western style dishes with Japanese and Korean influence.

Dishes I spotted include Lobster Mac & Cheese (THB 1550), Penne Sake Sauce with Burrata Cheese (THB 750), Linguine Beef Bulgogi (THB 550), to Four Cheese Ravioli with Beef Ragu (THB 520).

You can tell it is not your average Bangkok café prices.

With limited stomach space, I was enticed by the Chiffon Cakes – by the Godmother brand from Vietnam. Apparently, the Korean pastry chef was Paris-based.

So you do get a mix of cultures – Bangkok café working with Vietnamese brand offering Chiffon cakes by a Korean chef trained in Paris.

Flavours include Hokkaido Milk Block (THB 390), French Earl Grey (THB 490), Cheese Black (THB 490), and Strawberry Benji (THB 390).

Made fresh in-store, the recommended Strawberry Benji cake while being pricier than average, had this delicate chiffon base, with fluffy and soft-pillowy texture.

The sponge was indeed so light and moist, serving as the perfect canvas for the vibrant flavours.

Strawberries were layered within the cake, with slightly tart notes contrasting beautifully with the mild, sweet canvas of the chiffon.

Additionally, the cream spread atop the cake, added this smooth and rich finish, yet not overly indulgent-tasting. It could be shared by two, but I finished it.
