Triple-O’s are known for three things, their burgers, fries and hand-scooped shakes. The brand was founded way back in 1928 in Canada, and has been around for more than a year in Singapore.
While the general public may not have heard much of this fast food restaurant, they have fans supporting their 3 branches at Asia Square, Star Vista and the recently opened Orchard Towers branch.
Triple-O’s claim that they serve the “sauciest, juiciest, tastiest, bestest burgers around” so we put them to the test.
One of the fans’ favorites is the Sunny Start Combo ($6.90 for combo, $5.90 for burger only), a breakfast-style burger with fillings of fried egg, crispy bacon, melted cheese and special Triple “O” sauce.
Do wait for about 3 to 10 minutes because all Triple-O’s burgers are made-to-order, unlike most other fastfood restaurants. The burger did arrive like a mess, but I am always mentally prepared that my burgers would look nothing like those in the pictures. Never ever.
I could understand why some would like this. The burger is hearty, rather filling, and feels almost like you are eating a North-American portion. The hashbrown comes in sandwiched between so it would please carb lovers.
Three areas that did not quite pass the test: The bun (ordinary non-fluffy texture), the bacon which was obviously burnt, and the greasiness.
The Original Combo ($9.90 for combo, $8.90 for burger only) had quite a tasty beef patty, but also suffered the same fate of a dry bun, tough bacon and oily feel.
To give them credit, the Fish Combo ($12.9 for combo), $11.90 for burger only) uses thick ling cod so you feel quite substantial after chomping down a big bite.
The milkshakes are sweet, thick and creamy, and a friend would have a cup of blueberry milkshake every single week.
So is it “sauciest, juiciest, tastiest, bestest”. The irony of course is… the burgers all need more sauce. My personal take is, let it flow.
