Fang Patisserie is unlike the mainstream patisseries that has glitzy storefronts and intricate interiors, and it is almost quite off the radar.

Its Kallang Leisure Park store has been opened since end of 2022.

Recently, a new Fang outlet was opened at Anchorpoint Shopping Centre to bring their creations to the other half of Singapore.

Side note: the patisserie is named “fang” for “fragrance” in Mandarin.

There are certainly more patisseries in Singapore like LUNA Patisserie (Joo Chiat) and Arc-en-ciel Pâtisserie (Neil Road) known for their pretty cakes or avant-garde desserts.

Still, it is a laborious process to put together a complicated cake with miniscule elements day in and day out.

Fang Patisserie’s calling card is freshly made and meticulously crafted cakes and pastries. Specifically, the desserts are sculpted to resemble various items.

In its cosy Anchorpoint basement store, just limited quantities of each cake can be found.

When it is sold out for the day, it is gone for good.

At every patisserie, there always is a quintessential chocolate cake. At Fang Patisserie, it comes in the name of Royale ($8.80).

This rendition looks like a reflective orb sitting on a hazelnut feuillentine.

Cut it open to find its composition of cocoa sponge, hazelnut praline mousse, and dark chocolate namelaka.

Also interesting is the Dwayne ($8.50), which is made to look like a pebble.

Or well, a rock. Is that enough explanation for why it is called “Dwayne” now?

The rock has a solid structure of black sesame sponge and black sesame mousse, lightened up by a tangy raspberry gelee filling.

Some black sesame crumble at the base breaks apart easy like soil in a garden bed.

The Zest ($8.20) carries a simpler look, being a lemon tart topped with toasted Italian meringue. It is sharp and sweet at the same time, perfect to pair with a drink.

Other creations include Blossom ($8.50), Mango ($8.80), Summer ($8.50) and Cheri ($8.80).

There are also some more traditional pastries, like the Croissant ($3.02) and Pain Au Chocolat ($3.20), Cheese Sausage Puff ($3.80), to Curry Puff ($3.60).

While there was an item or two that reminded me of another P brand, their bakes were actually not bad.

The Anchorpoint spot delivers pretty and satisfying cakes. Why not give it a try when you are there?
