If you are looking for a cosy and modern Lamian and Dumpling eatery, look no further than this gem located in the heart of Clarke Quay – found at Clarke Quay Central basement (next to Don Don Donki).

DumPrince Dumpling House 饺皇帝 is a no-frills, casual eatery, but what it promises is mouth-watering, freshly cooked Lamian and Dumplings at inexpensive prices.

A bowl of noodles starts from $7.50 nett; a set meal with Chicken Cutlet and Drink for just $3.90 more.

Now, that is pretty affordable.

If you find the name familiar, there is because there is already an existing outlet at Chinatown Point basement (B1-47C).

The DumPrince team used to helm Kure Menya – known for its authentic chicken-based Japanese ramen, and therefore incorporate some of their experience into the current eateries.

They do not use MSG in their cooking, focusing on using quality ingredients to extract the flavours for their collagen broth.

Chicken Dumpling Noodles In Collagen Soup ($9.50, top up $2 for soft yolk egg)
The must-order here is the Chicken Dumpling Lamian in rich chicken collagen soup. There are also options of Prawn ($11.90) or Mushroom Dumplings ($10.90).

The rich chicken collagen soup meticulously boiled for eight hours was the star of the show, with depth of flavours but not overly salty.

The dumplings were considerably plump, filled with tender chicken meat.

I thought that the long and thin noodles were cooked till slightly soft (though they were still chewy), so do request if you prefer something harder.

Meatball Noodles In Clear Soup ($7.50)
The clear chicken soup would appeal to those who prefer something lighter and more refreshing, with a delicate chicken flavour that complemented the tender meatballs.

The handmade chicken meatballs included cabbage for some added textures.

You can also request for the Dumpling noodles to be served with clear soup, as opposed to Collagen broth if you are thinking of having something less rich.

Hot & Sour Noodle ($6.90)
The Hot & Sour Dry Noodles was another standout dish for me, with a tangy, spicy (but not too over) sauce that had just the right amount of kick.

Toss the noodles thoroughly in the homemade Sichuan sauce, various spices and peppercorns first.

I thought the noodles served with fungus and vegetables were nicely springy and chewy.

This option would be good for a vegetarian option as well.

Zhajiang Noodles ($6.90)
Moving on to the Zhajiang Noodles, the classic dish from Beijing given a more modern twist.

The thin QQ noodles would be poured over in an earthy-tasting, savoury bean paste sauce with minced chicken and vegetables, giving it some umami flavours.

Between the two dry Lamian, I preferred the Hot & Sour as the flavours were more pronounced.

Signature Sichuan Spicy Dumplings ($6.90 for 6pcs, $10.50 for 10pcs)
The DumPrince Chef have previously worked at a popular Sichuan restaurant in Singapore, and is quite proud of his “Hong You Chao Shou” offering.

The dumplings are handmade, stuffed with a mixture of minced chicken and cabbage, poured over with special sauce infused with Sichuan peppercorns, giving it a slight-numbing-spicy flavour.

I liked that there was some sweetness to the sauce – would order this again.

You can also order the dumplings boiled, pan-fried (like gyoza), deep-fried, or served with collagen soup; with options of chicken, prawn or mushroom fillings.

Tteobokki Specialty Dumplings ($9.90 for 6pcs)
With the new shop, there is also introduction of Specialty Dumplings – Korean Tteokbokki, Sambal Mayo, Truffle Cream, or Cheesy Nachos.

This is an interesting fusion side that was surprisingly delicious.

The tteokbokki, or spicy rice cakes, were cooked till soft and chewy. These came mixed with the specialty dumplings and sauce with just the right amount of heat.

Cheesy Nacho Chicken Dumplings ($6.90 for 6pcs)
For something more fun, have the Deep-Fried Dumplings with nacho cheese sauce.

The golden-brown Dumplings were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.

The drizzled nacho cheese sauce was a perfect complement – creamy, tangy, and slightly salty.
