Perched on the 7th floor of the Momentus Hotel Alexandra is a captivating culinary gem: Verandah Rooftop Rotisserie.

Stepping into Verandah’s urban oasis, one is immediately drawn to the harmonious juxtaposition of lush greenery against sleek, contemporary design.

Here, amidst an enchanting rooftop poolside setting, diners are promised an experience that lingers with its recent unveiling of the new Weekend Buffet Dinner.

Verandah is offering a sumptuous spread of signature roasts, premium meats, and hand-stretched wood-fired sourdough pizzas.

Not just limited to the buffet spread items, guests can also embark on a flavourful journey with their a la carte offerings.

The weekend buffet dinner is available on Fridays and Saturdays, from 6:00pm to 10:00pm.

While the price tag of $88++ for adults and $42++ for children (aged 6 to 11) might seem steep at a glance, one only needs to look at the extensive range of offerings to appreciate the value.

Also there is a one dines free with every three paying adults promotion till end of November 2023.

Here you can expect modern European feast with an unmistakable Asian flair. Indeed, while European cuisine often evokes images of exclusivity and sophistication, Verandah seeks to make it more accessible.

A La Carte Selection
As you settle into the ambient surroundings, diners are invited to scan a QR code to order A La Carte delights that can be effortlessly ordered and served at your table.

These include the tender Burnt Iberico Pork Secreto, Grilled Octopus, Seared Scallops, and Miso Cod with yuzu beurre blanc.

One dish that I really liked was Fish en Papillote wrapped in parchment paper to retain the natural juices.

The barramundi accompanied with shellfish had flaky flesh absorbing the aromatic infusion of the spicy lemongrass broth which was refreshing.

Cold Larder
Beginning at the Cold Larder for the buffet spread, a tantalising array of chilled delights beckons.

From the crunch of fresh salads to the rich taste of charcuterie and antipasti, there should be something to satisfy every craving.

Among the must-tries are the Charcuterie Board, showcasing a delectable selection of cured meats; and the Cured Salmon Carpaccio where the zesty touch of Sichuan Peppercorn provides an unexpected kick.

Seafood on Ice
For seafood lovers, you can expect glistening Live Pacific Oysters, plump Poached Sea Prawns, exotic Sea Whelk, and succulent Black Mussels.

Also available is an assortment of accompaniments, from the tangy classic cocktail sauce, mignonette, tabasco, to the spicy Thai seafood sauce.

Soups – Chef’s Choice
There are also comforting rotating soups of Lobster Bisque, Beef Goulash, Truffle Scented Wild Mushroom Soup, Pumpkin Velouté, Corn Potage, and Smoked Tomato Soup.

Live Action Kitchen – Rotisserie Carving
It is the Live Action Kitchen that indisputably claims the spotlight, with chefs masterfully manoeuvring their tools over the Hibachi grill, fuelled by binchotan.

Among the array of dishes that emerge from this culinary ballet, Verandah’s 48-hour Citrus Brined Rotisserie Chicken stands as a pièce de résistance.

Each bite of the chicken reveals the tang of citrus with an intricate medley of 12 spices. The meat itself was tender, succulent, and impeccably moist, bearing testament to the marination and slow roasting techniques employed.

For those with a penchant for premium quality red meats, there are also the melt-in-the-mouth 75°C Slow Roasted Argentinian Angus Beef Ribeye or the robust Australian Wagyu Tomahawk.

The Crackling Stuffed Porchetta deserves a mention, with its symphony of fennel, sage, and pancetta, punctuated by the delightful crunch of pine nuts.

Hand-stretched Wood-fired Sourdough Pizzas
Verandah serves up thin crust sourdough pizzas, their bases hand-stretched and baked on the spot in an apple-wood fired oven.

While the Margherita harks back to the timelessness of Italian tradition, the Korean-inspired Gochujang Chicken is a nod to the fusion of flavours.

Personally, the light and thin Seafood Sakura Ebi captured my attention – with tender shrimps, soft squid rings, and mussels.

The creaminess of the mentaiko and the light dance of the bonito flakes also reminded me of a little of Japanese Okonomiyaki.

Parmigiano Cheese Wheel Pasta
The sight of Truffle Cream Pasta being tossed in a giant parmigiano cheese wheel is a spectacle in itself, with choices of linguine, tagliatelle or penne.

I opted for the linguine, and each strand was generously coated with the rich, creamy sauce.

Sweets
From the moist and rich Sticky Date Pudding to Choux A La Crème Tower crowned with fragile caramel threads, save some rooms for desserts.

A standout is the Cempedak Crème Brulee, where the tropical jackfruit is incorporated into a classic French delicacy.

If you are looking for an interactive treat, the Pink Chocolate Fondue offers a delightful experience, where you can coat an assortment of fruits, marshmallows to even waffles with molten, rosy-hued chocolate.

There is also an inviting array of ice cream cups waiting to be savoured.
