Cluny Court at Bukit Timah Singapore is sometimes overlooked, but it does contain a number of cafes and other businesses, offering a blend of historical charm and contemporary offerings.

A collection of shophouses close to the Serene Centre, F&Bs there include Relish by Wild Rocket, Da Paolo Gastronomia, Plain Vanilla, Tiong Bahru Bakery, and the new Gelobuna.

Gelobuna serves up artisanal gelato and specialty coffee aficionados, though seating can be slightly limited.

A striking feature is the consistent splash of red that extends from the interior to the exterior.

Behind this chic facade is the team from Coffee Plus, known for their expertise in the coffee realm. (I do like stuff from Coffee Plus, but find them a little too under-the-radar even though they have been around for a while. Even GeloBuna doesn’t have a Google entry as of now.)

At Gelobuna, their main attraction is undoubtedly the gelato.

Patrons can savour their gelato in a cone (+$1), cup, or paired with a waffle (+$5).

In terms of pricing, a standard scoop is pegged at $5.50, while premium and “exotic” flavors are priced at $6.50 and $7.50 respectively.

I found it tad on the higher end, especially when flavors like Pistachio fall under the “exotic” category.

Otherwise, the range of flavours include the classic chocolate and vanilla, to more adventurous options like raspberry lychee rose, black sesame, blood orange, dark chocolate, non-alcoholic sangria, earl grey, and honey osmanthus.

I tried the Hazelnut Chocolate that was creamy and rich, though it leaned towards the sweeter side for my palate.

Complementing the frozen delights, the beverage menu predominantly features espresso-based specialty coffees such as Black ($5), White ($5.50) and Mocha ($6); and indulgent drinking chocolates (from $6.50).

The Ethiopian Single Origin “Limau Mkali G1” presents clear fruity and floral notes, offering a clean and refreshing mouthfeel.

If you prefer white coffee, the Brazilian Single Origin “Honey Nuttiness” is recommended – a blend of dark chocolate and toasted nut flavors, made smoother and sweeter by perfectly steamed milk.

A reasonable choice for those in the area of Botanic Gardens MRT Station, looking for gelato and specialty coffee.
