The popular Birds of Paradise Gelato Boutique has opened in Holland Village, bringing its botanically-inspired gelato flavours to the area.

This boutique is known for its aromatic and nature-inspired environment, offering a range of exotic and delightful flavours.

Do you know the store even has a Michelin recommendation?

Unexpected that they would award to a gelato shop, but we are never really quite sure how Michelin works.

Birds of Paradise is known to place strong emphasis on the quality of ingredients and the crafting process.

Their use of natural and botanical ingredients is evident in every scoop, making each flavour a subtle nod to nature.

The gelato is served in either a cup or a crisp thyme cone, enhancing the botanical theme.

A standard single scoop in a cup costs $5.50 ($9 for double), while in a thyme cone it’s $6.80 ($10.30 for double). Prices have of course risen steadily across time.

Pints are also available.

Some of the top-selling flavours at Birds of Paradise include the White Chrysanthemum – infused with chrysanthemum and is sprinkled with bits of cacao, creating a unique and floral taste experience.

There is also the Spiced Pear – a combination of Williams pear with cinnamon, cloves, and star anise, offering a warm and spicy twist.

The boutique offers other interesting choices like Strawberry Basil, Earl Grey & Lemongrass, Lychee Raspberry, Pandan, Sea-Salt Hojicha, to Peach & Rose Sorbet.

I ordered the Macadamia Butterfly Pea for its light tinge of blue. This combines the rich, buttery goodness of macadamia nuts with the floral notes of butterfly pea flower, finished with a hint of blue salt.

Nutty and creamy with a smooth texture.

The Smoked Double Chocolate was also not bad, a testament to the boutique’s skill in creating more complex flavours.

The chocolate was rich and bittersweet, with a subtle smokiness that elevates it from a typical chocolate gelato.

It should appeals to those who appreciate a deeper, more nuanced chocolate experience.

Made in-house, the cones are crisp and light, with a distinctive hint of thyme.

The thyme’s herby aroma complements the botanical theme of the gelato flavours, adding another layer of sensory enjoyment.
