Sourbombe Artisanal Bakery has carved out a niche for itself, offering sourdough Bomboloni which is a twist on the classic Italian doughnut with various exciting flavours.

These Bombolonis are crafted from sourdough, which gives them a distinct texture and depth of flavour that sets them apart from traditional varieties.

So, I found that the sourdough base provides a slightly tangy flavour and a chewier texture.

The brand is found by Genevieve Lee – the 2018 MasterChef Singapore runner-up, and Chun Rong known for his creative food photography on Instagram.

Good team. I think they managed to get the exploration of flavours and branding on-point.

Other than outlets at Penang Road, Jewel Changi Airport and Wisma Atria, it has opened a new takeaway shop at One Holland Village.

The one thing that made many excited about One Holland Village is that it’s pets-friendly.

The menu includes sourdough pastries, breads, and even pet-friendly options for four-legged friends sometime in the future.

Among the exclusive offerings at this One Holland Village location are the Kombu Shio Pan ($3.50) and Jalapeno Cheese Shio Pan ($3.50).

There are also Savoury Bombes ($8.50 each) with choices like Smoked Salmon Cream Cheese, Chilli Crab with Sakura Ebi Pangratta, Kimcheese with Marinated Baby Scallops, and Crab Salad with Guac.

They look like hotdog buns, but the ‘bread’ has a donut-like texture.

I was keen to try the new Snow Bombes ($3.30 each) most, available in flavors like White Coffee, Black Sesame Kinako, Blueberry Cheesecake, Chocolate Hojicha, and Genmaicha Latte.

This time, I found the size of the Bombolonis to be just right for one seating, as I am also looking at my after-meal sugar intake.

Among these, the Blueberry Cheesecake Snow Bombe caught my eye with the purple exterior, balancing the tartness of blueberries with the creamy richness of cheesecake.

Not too sweet as well.

However, the fillings in the Bombolonis could be a tad lighter and airier to achieve a better balance between dough and filling.

What I like about this brand is they keep innovating, and there is always some different on display when you visit.
