There are Korean Fried Chicken fried by robots, and they are those by human. This is by human.

Jade’s Chicken is a relatively popular Korean Fried Chicken stall that is located in Toa Payoh Lor 1, in a kopitiam named Johnson Eatery.

Just less than two years ago, the exact same spot was known as Waker Chicken – now known for its low price Korean Fried Chicken found in neighbourhood locations around the island.

Now, Jade’s Chicken is the branding at this place, although everything else looks the same – from the menu to the set-up and even to the rattan basket that the chicken is served in.

Whatever it is, Jade’s Chicken is still run by Koreans and offers the same affordable and tasty fried chicken spot that draws long queue on busy days.

The fried chicken comes in Half ($15) or Whole ($29), with the former getting you 7 pieces and the latter getting you 14 pieces.

Ask for Original Crispy, Sweet Spicy, Soy Sauce, or Honey Butter.

Their Soy Sauce Korean Fried Chicken is considered a crowd-pleaser. Delicately crispy on the outside, the chicken remains incredibly juicy and tender on the inside.

Marinated in a balanced blend of sweet and savory soy sauce, the chicken is double-fried and super ‘saucy’ – drenched in more sauce than the usual.

The Honey Butter is one of the more asked-for flavours for good reason. Apart from how the honey butter powder looks like snowflakes on the chicken, its delicate flavour accentuates the taste of the chicken very well.

As for the other flavours, the stall does not skimp on the sauce: the chicken parts are all evenly coated with the sauce of your choice.

Try having the chicken as tenders or fillets, coming in 4pcs ($7) or 8pcs ($13).

For a slightly more balanced diet, their Rice Sets ($6.50) are 3 pieces of meat served on a fluffy bed of rice.

Everything is fried to order so that the chicken is served still hot.

Jade’s Chicken thoughtfully offers sides in addition to the fried chicken. The Sun Toufu Soup ($7.50) is recommended for its tangy spicy combination that goes so well to cut through the sameness of the chicken.

If not, have some Ramyeon which has rich and spicy. The noodles are springy and chewy, cooked to absorb the bold flavors of the broth. Even though you can make Ramyeon right at home, Jade does them (probably) slightly better.

Whatever the origin of Jade’s Chicken, this is one of the easiest choices to go for when a sudden craving for Korean Fried Chicken hits.
