In the bustling heart of Singapore’s shopping district, Baristart Coffee Singapore has unveiled its newest location at Wisma Atria.

This complements its existing presence at Tras Street.

Tucked away on the fourth level within the OCBC Wisma Atria branch, the café presents itself as an intriguing juxtaposition — an oasis of calm amidst the commercial flurry.

It is actually located next to Food Republic if you want to find it.

This 56-seater outpost has become somewhat of a refuge, particularly noticeable with students who find its tranquility conducive for study when I visited the last few times.

Originating from Hokkaido, Japan, Baristart Coffee’s journey began in June 2015, starting humbly as a coffee stand.

The establishment served not just as a spot for caffeine enthusiasts but also as an educational platform where visitors could learn about Hokkaido’s famed milk and its influence on Japan’s coffee culture.

The brand name, “Baristart,” encapsulates its essence, merging ‘Barista’, ‘start’, and ‘art’.
Signature offerings, familiar to Baristart regulars, make their appearance.

Among these are the series of sandos; the Tonkatsu Sando ($18.80) deserves a mention.

You get Hokkaido Pork loin merging harmoniously with mustard butter, tonkatsu sauce, and shredded cabbage, all ensconced in fluffy white bread.

Dishes like the Obihiro Butadon ($19.80) are available as well.

The bowl features grilled Hokkaido Kurobuta pork belly, with a hint of sweetness from the soy-based marinade, sits atop short-grain Japanese rice, with a finishing touch of a special teriyaki glaze.

Drawing from the luscious BIEI Jersey Milk from Hokkaido, the dessert menu should appeal to those with a penchant for the sweeter side.

The one item that stands out? The Cream Puff.

The iconic Cream Puff ($7) is infused with the signature Hokkaido BIEI Jersey Milk custard, and offers two flavours — the classic Hokkaido milk and a Coffee Cream Puff variant.

I prefer the former as it had a more unadulterated taste.
