Milksha 迷客夏 also known as “Milkshop” in Taiwan, is Taiwan’s leading bubble tea that is voted No. 1 by Taiwan university students, is set to launch in Singapore at Suntec City. (The 2nd outlet is stated to be at Funan Centre)

The first “Milkshop” opened in Tainan in 2004, boasts of over 230 outlets in Taiwan, 20 in China, and two in Hong Kong – at Causeway Bay and Tsim Sha Tsui.

The Suntec City Singapore flagship is also Milksha’s first outlet in Southeast Asia.

Milksha is known to use 100% natural fresh milk (no creamer) as well as other natural ingredients such as sugar from sugar cane for their products.

No preservatives, chemical ingredients or artificial colourings.

Its pearls are also quite unique, featuring honey pearls freshly cooked, frozen, then air-flown to Singapore. #effort

In Singapore, the brand will launch four series: Fresh Milk Series, Fresh Milk Tea Latte Series, Premium Tea Series and Special Concoctions. The five signatures include Azuki Matcha Milk, Fresh Taro Milk, Valrhona 100% Cocoa Milk, Refreshing Orange Green Tea and Earl Grey Latte with Honey Pearl.

One of the recommended drinks is the sweet and earthy Azuki Matcha Milk, which features matcha specially imported from Izumo Tousuien (桃翠園).

The company works with the 100-year-old brand Izumo Matcha for the procurement. The matcha used is first chilled, then air-flown.

Another highlight is the Fresh Taro Milk, made with unique taro imported from Dajia 大甲 in Taiwan.

The taro is mashed by hand, then blended with the fresh milk, and therefore you would feel you are having the real stuff in your drink.

[Hong Kong] The following is a review of Milksha in Hong Kong at Causeway Bay.

Milksha which is located right next to Jenjudan, specialises in using fresh milk from its own pastures in Taiwan.

While it is also relatively popular in Hong Kong, the line is much shorter than the rest, possibly because it has been around for a while and specialises in other drinks such as Cheese Milk Tea, Fresh Milk Tea, Fresh Milk Specials and and Tea.

Perhaps it is also because some of the drinks are covered with its opaque cup, and thus loses some of that ‘instagrammable’ factor.

Some of their Fresh Milk Specialty Drinks include Taro Milk (HK32), Izumo Matcha Milk (HK30), Red Bean Milk (HK26), White Gourd Milk (HK26) and Red Bean Sesame Milk (HK30).

For special drinks, get your hands on the White Gourd & Light Roasted Oolong Tea (HK20), Grapefruit Juice & Jasmine Tea (HK24) and even Yakult with Jasmine Tea (HK24).

They do also offer a Bubble Brown Sugar Fresh Milk (HK26, SGD4.56), which has delicate, smooth milk texture though the brown sugar is not as pronounced and sweet as the rest.

Their strengths are really on its milk and tea, which has a pleasant lingering fragrant.

Also, as quite a number of brands around focus on Brown Sugar Milk drinks, this is where you can still get a good variety of more ‘traditional’ bubble teas.
