The World’s 50 Best Restaurants has announced the 2018 list of restaurants, and Osteria Francescana from Modena, Italy has claimed back the top spot from Eleven Madison Park. (Also read: Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2018)
The awards are announced in an annual awards ceremony held at Bilbao, Spain.
There are few surprises in the 50 Best though.
Italian restaurateur and Chef Massimo Bottura from Osteria Francescana has been known not only for his food, but charitable and global food-waste reducing efforts.
With Restaurant André out of the picture as it closed in February, Odette takes the top spot in Singapore at an impressive No. 28 – up from the previous No. 86.
Asia’s top position continues to be dominated by Gaggan from Bangkok, Thailand, which climbed two positions to No. 5.
Noma 2.0 by Chef René Redzepi is not considered as it opened after the voting period. Next year then.
(On another note, I happened to dine at 4 out of the top 5. Does heading to Menton, France sound a little irrational?)
