With brand new cafes popping up all the time in Singapore, there is always something fresh and exciting to discover.
Whether you are a coffee lover or just looking for a new place to relax and unwind, here are some of the newest cafes in Singapore that are worth checking out (and we visited every one of them).

French-Style Café At ION Orchard With Black Truffle Scrambled Eggs Croissant
Le Matin Patisserie has opened a brunch and bakery café in the heart of town at ION Orchard, bringing with it signature French delicacies for brunch, dinner and dessert.
This French-inspired patisserie aims to serve up an ever-evolving menu of unique pastries, expertly-crafted from ingredients sourced from the world over.
Diving straight to the new brunch items, they include the Black Truffle Scrambled Eggs Croissant ($34), Ox Tongue & Bresaola Croque Monsieur ($24), Seafood Pot Pie ($24), Crab, Caviar & Waffles ($24), to Smoked Beef Cheek Bahn Mi ($18).
While Croissant Sandwiches are a common offering in cafes now, this Black Truffle Scrambled Eggs Croissant ($34) spells “indulgence” all over.
What you get is a round croissant of a burger stacked with black truffle aioli and truffle paste, fluffy and buttery scrambled eggs. Not forgetting 8g of sliced black truffles on top.

Unusual Scandinavian-Themed Cafe At Anchorpoint
A Scandinavian-themed café selling Swedish and Danish-style food… right opposite IKEA Alexandra.
Yes, Overbrod (or OVERBRØD) is a deli-inspired café concept centered around Scandinavian food, located at the revamped wing of Anchorpoint Shopping Centre.
According to the owners, their trips and time spent in Sweden and Denmark opened their eyes to various Scandinavian food which are less commonly found in Singapore.
Included in their menu are various styles of Smørrebrød (some call this Danish-style buttered bread), Handmade Swedish Meatballs (yesssh) and Hay-smoked Buttered Dill Potatoes.
Starting with the sandwiches, there are choices of Gravadlax or Cured Salmon ($19), Toast Skagen or Shrimps ($18), Mushrooms ($15) and Roast Beef ($18).

Hellu Coffee

Hole-In-The-Wall Cafe Serving Croffles At Far East Square
A new hole-in-the-wall specialty coffee place, Hellu Coffee has opened at Far East Square in Telok Ayer.
It has an 8-seater space indoors and another 8 seats outdoors, located diagonally across popular donuts & sandwich shop Korio.
All their croffles (mix between croissant and waffle) are freshly made in the morning in limited quantity, and comes in 3 different flavours: Plain ($5.50), Choco ($6) and Cheese ($6).
Diners can choose to have them heated up prior to serving, to enjoy the warm, crispy texture.
The Plain Croffle ($5.50) was buttery and moist on its own, with a balance of crispy texture on the outside, and soft laminated layers on the inside.

Popular Coffee Shop From Hong Kong Opens At Shenton Way
Fans of popular Hong Kong’s The Cupping Room will be thrilled to know that the second Cupping Room Singapore outlet is now opened at Robinson Centre (near Shenton Way MRT station).
Known for its good coffee and Australian-inspired café brunch fare, its first outlet in Singapore is found at Takashimaya.
Focusing more on their beverages, think Espresso ($4.80), Long Black ($5), Macchiato ($5), White ($5.50 for 4oz, $6 for 7oz), Mocha ($7) and Single Origin Filter Coffee ($5.80 – $14).
Using their Attaboy house blend consisting of Ethiopia and Colombia harvested in 2021, their 7oz White ($6) is medium bodied and robust with notes of chocolate, blackberries with a citrus finish.
Non-espresso drinks include Chocolate ($6) and Matcha Latte ($6.50), the latter uses oat milk from Oatly! by default.

Tea-Specialty Ice Cream Cafe At Chinatown With Nian Gao Waffles
New Ice Cream cafe Ri Ri Cha 日日茶 at Sago Street is focused on tea-flavoured ice cream.
If you find some of their offerings such as Nian Gao Waffles familiar, that is because it is opened by the same folks behind The Better Scoop located at Serangoon and Sembawang.
Outlet-exclusive flavours are more tea-focused, such as Corn Silk Tea, White Peach Oolong, Matcha Butterfly Pea Soy, Jasmine Green Milk Tea, Longan Red Dates, Tangerine Peel Pu’erh, Da Hong Pao Pineapple and Roselle Smoked Plum.
The Nian Gao Waffles ($6.80) was as delightful as I remembered it to be, with a layer of chewy “Nian Gao” (a traditional Chinese New Year cake) made from glutinous rice flour embedded within the waffle.
Adding a chewy texture in contrast to the crispy nature of a waffle, it is similar to how we usually pan-fried our Nian Gao with eggs, except in the form of a waffle that is more airy.

Modern Japanese Cafe At Suntec City With Cute Mochi ice Cream And Matcha Drinks
As a modern Japanese cafe that offers Japanese treats in a more modern context unlike a traditional teahouse, Cafe USAGI is a home-grown brand from Singapore, opened by a Japanese co-owner.
USAGI means “rabbit” in Japanese, and symbolises good fortune and is “auspicious”.
A small dessert menu is available here, which includes Signature Mochi ice Cream ($6), Strawberry Mochi ($6.90), Japanese flavoured hand-crafted ice cream (Single $5, Double $8) and Waffle with Kuromitsu or Maple Syrup ($6.50).
With only tea options on their beverage menu, check out Matcha ($5.50), Matcha Latte ($6.80), Hojicha Latte ($6.80), Hot Tea ($7.50 – $7.90) and Cold Brew ($8).

ASK Coffee Roastery

Malaysian Specialty Coffee Cafe Opened At Seah Street
Ask Coffee Roastery which is a homegrown coffee roaster based in Shah Alam, has opened their first outlet in Singapore, along Seah Street (right next to Raffles Hotel Singapore).
Using a 2-beans-blend of Brazil and Colombian, ASK will be roasting their own beans in Singapore in the future.
The same blend is used for their espresso-based coffee, starting from $4 for a cup of Black: Espresso, Americano, Lungo; Latte ($6 – $7) and Flavoured Coffee ($7 – $8).
My cup of Latte ($6) was medium-bodied with a light-medium roast, distinctive orange citrus notes and slightly on the acidic side, with subtle chocolatey taste.

Paya Lebar Cafe With Chinese Medical Hall Theme
8Bar Espresso is a coffee specialty place that serves Chinese food and snacks at SingPost Centre, taking over the space previously occupied by Monga Fried Chicken Singapore 艋舺ㄟ雞排.
As for the interior, it is a mix of modern industrial design with cemented grey walls and floorings, coupled with red drawers that resembles a Chinese medicinal hall.
Their Breakfast and Sides selection seem to incorporate a strong influence from Taiwan, such as Taipei to NY ($14), Lu You Fries ($13) and Fried Chicken Poppers ($13).
I enjoyed the Lu You Fries ($13), a spin-off from Taiwan Lu Rou Fan (Braised Pork Rice), topped with braised pork, mozzarella with spicy broad bean mayonnaise, spring onion and white sesame.

Nostalgic Old-School Bakes And Gelato At Serangoon North Cafe
Kreme Cafe has taken over the space previously occupied by Chang Wang Cake Shop, an old school neighbourhood confectionery bakery that is familiar to residents in the area for the past three decades.
Surprisingly and maybe not, instead of the usual pastries that you will find in cafes these days, Kreme Cafe focuses on nostalgic and traditional bakes.
Here, you will find different flavours of Muffins ($2.50), Chocolate Eclair ($2.50), Stuffed Donuts ($2.80), Ring Donuts ($2.20), Egg Tart ($1.80), Pandan Cake ($1.80), Chicken Pie ($2.20) and Curry Puff ($2.20).
Cakes-wise, check out Kaya Cake ($4.20), Yam Cake ($4.20), Mango Mousse Cake ($4.20), Mocha Mousse Cake ($4.20) and USA Cheese Cake ($5).

The Last Scoop is an ice cream cafe at Eunos that has both indoors and alfresco seating areas.
12 flavours are available, with classic ones such as Blue Vanilla, Strawberry Tart, Nutella Speculoos.
Premium ones include Cream Cheese, Baileys’ & Cookies, Matcha and Open Sesame.
Interesting flavours include Movie Night (sweet buttered popcorn), Wizard’s Brew (Earl Grey with Thyme and Cinnamon), Wang Zai Niu Tai (Wang Wang Milk), and Pei Pa Gao (Nin Jiom Pei Pa Koa) – uncommon in other ice cream shops.
