Perhaps not many noticed that Hoe Kee Kitchen 和記雞飯小厨 at Jurong West 505 Food Centre known for its Steamed Chicken Rice has been included in the Michelin Guide Singapore with a Michelin Plate.
Other Michelin-recommended stalls in the same Hong Kah Point food centre include Soh Kee Cooked Food 蘓记熟食, Jian Bo Tiong Bahru Shui Kueh and Loong Kee Yong Tau Fu.

The guide mentioned, “Steamed chicken rice with tender meat and flavourful rice is popular. Other options include reasonably priced char siew and roasted pork rice.”
This stall serves up Steamed Chicken Rice, Char Siew Rice, Roasted Pork Rice, along with Soya Sauce Vegetable and Bean Sprout.
But wait, wait, wait… $2 Chicken Rice? Wow.
With inflation and increasing ingredient costs, it is so difficult to find $2 Chicken Rice in our hawker centres, so kudos to them.
Half a Chicken cost $11, while a whole is at $22.
The queue sometimes starts before its opening hours of 10am, and they can get sold out by late lunch time (even though their operational hours on Google is till 6pm).
Be prepared to wait say 30 minutes or possibly longer, depending on the line.
Starting with the rice, it was flavourful, in fact tasty enough to eat on its own.
Though I wished the grains were cooked fluffier and softer, as they could be on the drier side when you compare to other good Chicken Rice stalls.
The chilli sauce with a strong garlicky taste and slight zesty enhanced the overall flavours. Good stuff.
Not that the chicken was any bad. While the meat was relatively tender, it could be more flavourful but was decent overall – good for its price.
