The Michelin Guide Singapore has included this Chicken Rice stall in its latest entry, but it is not one of those super popular or brand-name ones.

Zi Jin Cheng Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice 紫金城 is found at Alexandra Village Food Centre (near the famous Avocado juice stall. (Michelin Guide spells “金” as “Jing” unfortunately.)

Though I have tried many stalls there previously, this one didn’t come to my attention.

Other Michelin-recommended Chicken Rice stalls in Singapore include Tian Tian Chicken Rice (Maxwell Food Centre), Sin Kee Famous Cantonese Chicken Rice (Holland Drive), Hua Kee Chicken Rice (Redhill Food Centre), Tiong Bahru Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice (Tiong Bahru Food Centre), Hoe Kee Kitchen (Jurong West 505), and Xing Yun Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice (Yuhua Food Centre).

The stall only serves the steamed chicken version – boneless as the signage suggests, without the roasted type.

It is quite well-liked by customers, with a steady flow of people lining up during lunch time.

Oh, a plate of Chicken Rice is still priced at $3.50, which is considered pretty affordable.

And the portion was generous… look at the portion for 2 pax priced at $9.

Otherwise, customers can also order half at chicken at $12, and a whole chicken at $24.

All-in-all, this was a decent, above-average plate of Chicken Rice.

The chicken was cooked till juicy and tender with a good bite.

The rice itself was mildly fragrant, cooked with chicken broth to give it richer flavours.

Comparing to some of the famous brands out there, the grains were on the lighter and dry side and some would prefer more robustness.

Overall, the sauce beneath the chicken was delightfully tasty with a sweetish tinge, and I found myself pouring some of that over the rice to elevate the taste.

The dipping sauces are also an integral part of the Chicken Rice dish, with a variety of options such as blended ginger, chilli, and dark soy sauce.

To me, the chilli sauce (though a tad watery) which had an alluring spicy kick was the winner.

Oh, there is also some side serving of achar provided to cut through the richness.
