Adam Food Centre is home to some of the best Halal hawker stalls in Singapore, from Selera Rasa Nasi Lemak, No.1 Adam’s Nasi Lemak, Zaiton Satay, Selamat Datang Warong Pak Sapari, to Al-Sheik Mee Stall.

Bahrakath Mutton Soup which has been around since 1973 is known for its hearty Mutton Soup and Briyani, popular among locals and tourists alike.

There is generally a constant stream of customers eagerly waiting for their orders.

The stall has also been recently included in the Singapore Michelin Guide with a Bib Gourmand.

There are many variants of the Mutton Soup available, from Mutton Leg, Tripe, Ribs, Tongue, to Meat.

Each bowl is priced at $7 or $8, with bread at an additional $1. It is perhaps slightly more expensive than the average stall.

The soup was served relatively hot, with a generous portion of tender mutton leg that had been slow-cooked till soft.

The meat was considerably soft, almost falling off the bone, and had soaked up the flavours of the soup.

One thing I liked was that the meat was not gamey and had no funky taste.

One of the unique features of the Bahrakath Mutton Soup is the use of a special spice blend, which gives the soup its distinctive flavour.

The blend includes a range of spices and herbs, including cumin, coriander, turmeric, making it rich yet not overly greasy.

I also noted the use of fried shallots for added fragrance.

Compared to some stalls which are more robust, the gravy here was thick but somehow more muted (didn’t feel as ‘heaty’ – which some customers may prefer.

I did wish the bread would be toasted, and that would taste better after mopping up the sauces.

Added plus point: the stall opens up to 1am for the supper goers.
