Canada’s beloved coffee shop Tim Hortons has opened in Singapore, with its first café at VivoCity Level 1.

It is known to use 100% Premium Arabica beans that are responsibly sourced.

Also look out for outlets in NEX, Suntec City (end Jan), and One Raffles Place in the coming months.

For those unfamiliar with the brand, Tim Hortons is a Canadian icon.

Since its inception in 1964 by hockey star Tim Horton, it has grown into a cultural staple, known for its quality coffee and baked goods such as Donuts and Timbits® – bite-sized donut delights.

This Tim Hortons isn’t just a coffee place; it’s a slice of Canadian culture, right here in Singapore.

Found at the Level 1 corner at VivoCity, I liked the décor which is a new design concept of the brand, inspired by the natural landscapes of Canada and the grandeur of old maple trees.

Warm tones and organic shapes are used to create a welcoming atmosphere.

Plus, there is natural daylight seeping in, so that you would find it easy to have a relaxing time here.

The Singapore menu offers a tantalising array of signature beverages, famed sourdough melts, freshly prepared donuts, and the internationally adored Timbits®.

Here’s what you can expect at Tim Hortons Singapore:

Café Latte ($6, $6.60, $7.20)
I was most intrigued to try Tim Hortons’ Espresso Coffee and Signature Lattes.

Known for their commitment to quality, using 100% Premium Arabica Beans responsibly sourced from coffee-rich regions, my expectations were high.

Among their offerings, the Espresso, Americano, Café Latte, Cappuccino, and Flat White are classic choices.

The Café Latte was smooth, with the robust flavour of the Arabica beans shining through. It’s a good cup.

Maple Cinnamon Latte ($7, $7.60, $8.20)
The Signature Lattes lineup includes flavours such as Belgian Chocolate Mocha, Salted Caramel, Roasted Hazelnut, Macadamia, and Espresso Chai – in both hot and iced offerings.

I chose the Maple Cinnamon Latte, because this reminded me most of Canada.

And it is not every day you find a latte in Singapore that combines maple with the warm spice of cinnamon.

I thought that sweetness of the maple syrup was distinct (enough to make its presence known) yet not overpowering.

What I liked best was the cinnamon which added a subtle spiciness, which felt extra apt to have this festive season.

Freshly Brewed Coffee “Double Double” or “Single Single” ($5, $5.60, $6.20)
If you are a Tim Hortons fan, you certainly know what a “Double Double” is.

This famous Canadian staple consist of double cream and double sugar, and I hear it is also adjusted for Singapore’s palate with less sweetness.

You get robust coffee, softened by the cream and sweetened.

If you prefer something less sweet and indulgent, there is the “Single Single” – coffee with one serving of cream and one serving of sugar.

Iced Capps® ($6.50 onwards)
Tim Hortons’ Iced Capps® are popular as well, known for their creamy texture and rich coffee flavour.

Essentially, they are blended iced coffee drinks, made by combining coffee with ice and a creamy base – great for Singapore’s hot weather.

Iced Capps® choices here include The Original, French Vanilla, Salted Caramel Macchiato, Dark Chocolate Chip Mocha, and Belgian Chocolate Mocha.

If you like something decadent, then go for the Iced Salted Caramel Macchiato with a hint of saltiness that cut through the richness.

I went for the Iced Dark Chocolate Chip Mocha. The dark chocolate chips added an interesting texture and bittersweet depth, creating a drink quite luscious tasting.

Iced Tea Refreshers (from $5.50)
Need a non-coffee drink? There are the Tea Refreshers featuring Iced Oolong, Iced Lemonade Oolong, Iced Peach Oolong, Iced Raspberry Oolong and more.

The Iced Peach Oolong was my favourite due to the fruity essence of peaches along with subtle tea fragrance of the oolong.

And it wasn’t overly sweet, which I appreciated.

Sourdough Melts (from $8.90)
Moving on to the food, look out for the savoury Sourdough Melts, including Truffle Mushroom, Maple Glazed Chicken Ham & Cheese, Tuna Sriracha Cheese, and Pesto Chicken Mozzarella Melt.

I went straight for the classic Triple Cheese & Caramelised Onion Melt to experience some cheese-pull…

A no-frills yet satisfying offering, this featured gooey mozzarella and cheddar cheese sandwiched between slices of lightly grilled bread.

The bread had a crisp exterior that gave a satisfying crunch which contrasted with the creamy, melted cheese inside.

Timbits® ($10 for 10-pack Timbits®) individual Timbits® coming soon
Timbits®, a signature Tim Hortons’ item, are bite-sized donuts known for their convenience and variety, making them a favourite snack option.

The Classic Glaze has soft, airy texture and a sweet, smooth glaze that isn’t overly sugary.

There is also the Birthday Cake Timbit® – a white-cake Timbit covered in donut glaze, adorned with colourful sprinkles.

My personal favourite is the Cinnamon Sugar Timbit® with pillowy texture and touch of fragrant spice.

Donuts ($20 for 6-pack Donut) individual Donut coming soon
Six Donut flavours are currently launched in Singapore, including Belgian Dark Chocolate, Maple Salted Caramel, and Strawberry Belgian White Chocolate Donut.

Sweet, light and fluffy, the Classic Glaze Donut is for those who want to try the original, unadulterated taste.

I liked the Boston Cream. The soft yeast-filled donut, dipped in chocolate fondant and filled with rich Venetian cream, was quite indulgent.

If you prefer something more refreshingly, then go for the Yuzu Lemon Cream Donut with a citrusy take.
