[Bangkok] For serious matcha drinkers and those who love to take #OOTD, this is the place for you.

Located at the newly completed One City Centre office space, Ksana Matcha is conveniently situated between Phloen Chit & Chit Lom BTS.

What first piqued my interest was its OOTD-worthy aesthetic that resembles Antelope Canyon.

Like smack right in the heart of Bangkok, really possible??

So I head down and just to manage some real expectations, the space was in fact quite small and compact.

Though you CAN actually get nice shots from different framing angles.

Very brilliant of them to create the trick room effect by constructing wall features that model after the natural contours of Antelope Canyon.

One can then experience hiding in a “canyon” for some peaceful moments and escape from outer world chaos, while sipping on their matcha offerings.

The menu is straight forward with only 3 types of Tea on the menu – Ceremonial Grade Matcha (Costal Breeze), Premium Grade Matcha (Bitter Rainforest) and Ceremonial Grade Hojicha (Smokey Peaks).

Each tea then has its own concoction methodology options.

For instance, Ceremonial Grade Matcha can be done in 3 ways – Latte (Hot/Iced) (THB 200, SGD7.80), Usucha (Hot/Iced) (THB 170, SGD6.70), or Koicha (Hot) (THB 190, SGD7.50).

Whereas Ceremonial Grade Hojicha is only available in Latte (Hot/Iced) (THB 160, SGD6.30)

For matcha beginners, I would say Premium Grade Matcha in Hot Latte would be the best bet.

You can taste gentle fresh grassy notes with hints of earthy flavour. Finished with bitter-sweet umami aftertaste that is well blended with creamy milk.

Just to have a sense of the taste variation from different preparation methodology, I also had the Iced Usucha (non-milk thin tea style) which I found the flavours slightly muted when it was done cold.

Serious matcha drinkers should definitely opt for the Ceremonial Grade Koicha (non-milk thick tea style) which you can then witness traditional Japanese tea ceremony (Chaji) in action.

The staff would whisk the tea powder in minimal amount of water and result in a lustrous concentrated syrupy paste that boasts deep intense vegetable flavours and savoury-bitter notes.

To complement the experience, there are also Japanese Sweets available such as Yokan, Kingyokukan and Nerikiri (THB 140, SGD5.50)

These are usually traditional confectionery made using red bean paste with mochi texture, or agar jelly desserts.

It was slightly sweet for my liking, but I guess it was meant to balance out the savoury-bitter flavours from beverages.

Since the place is quite convenient to locate, should you are visiting iconic landmarks nearby such as Erawan Shrine or Central Embassy, one can simply pop by for a drink and take a “canyon” shot.
