No doubt if you have scrolled enough social media on food, you would have heard of Joji’s Diner – the flamboyant American diner that has been making rounds on YouTube, Tiktok, Instagram, and everywhere.

They are known for their eye-catching décor, photogenic food, and a range of diner fare not always easily found in Singapore.

With its first outlet at Upper Serangoon, the popular diner now has a second outlet at Stanley Street to accommodate the increasing crowd.

Of walking distance from Telok Ayer MRT station, they have two floors now, perfect for more people to enjoy everything they have to offer.

Entering the diner, I am glad that they have managed to keep their signature charm. The neon signs, barber poles, vinyl chairs are still the main attractions, creating just the right vibe.

Ah, and American music from a certain era.

There are some differences in the new menu, also with a slight markup perhaps because of the prime location.

Food is not known to be top-notch, but at least decent for its prices.

Main plates include the Farmer’s Plate ($23.90), Duck on Mash ($19.90), Chilli Dog ($13.90), Grilled Cheese Sandwich ($11.90), Busty Benny ($18.90) which is eggs ben with pulled beef, Blueberry Waffles ($8.90) and Smash Burger ($14.90).

What will be familiar to loyal patrons is the All-Star Plate ($14.90), a complete American-style breakfast you can get all day.

The main parts of the plate are the crispy hash, creamy scrambled eggs and the grilled sausage. You can douse everything in some maple syrup to have some sweet contrast to the saltiness.

For $1.90, pancakes will replace the toast on the plate, which makes for an improved combination.

Another mainstay is the Chicken & Waffle ($12.90), an undisputed classic. This rendition has a fried chicken fillet on a buttery waffle, with a sunny side-up to top.

The pairing of savoury fried chicken, airy waffle, and sweet syrup can hardly invite a complaint.

Once again, the maple syrup brings the whole dish to life.

Joji's Diner

You may want to look out for the sweet stuff, which is key to Joji’s Diner. Their dessert repertoire is mainly about the shakes: try the Big Bang ($11.90), a thick chocolate-based milkshake with a ton of sprinkles and a cute little donut through the straw.

If nothing else, a basic but comforting Plain Jane ($8.90), which is a classic vanilla milkshake, will do just as well.

Also, the Banana Split ($12.90) is done the proper way – chocolate ice cream, halved banana, whipped cream, and Amarena cherries to finish.

Or quench your thirst with an Earl Grey Citrus Tea ($6) or Mixed Berries Iced Tea ($6) – was surprised they were pretty generous with the fruits, and price-point still considered reasonable for CBD area.
