Mrs Pho is a name synonymous with authentic Vietnamese food in Singapore.

Other than Pho, Vietnamese noodles and starters, the Bussorah Street outlet near Bugis features Vietnamese street-side charcoal grill prominently.

(In case you have not been here for a while: this original outlet was located at Beach Road, but they have decided to relocate to a slightly bigger space with more spacious kitchen – a short walk away at 73 Bussorah Street.)

The restaurant is now all set to further entice gourmands by introducing a new menu featuring smoky and flavoursome fire-grilled skewers.

The sheer variety available in this simple yet comforting dish makes skewers a favourite among vegetarians, seafood enthusiasts, and meat lovers.

The Classic Vietnamese-style skewers start from $1.80, presenting items like Grilled Kaffir Chicken, Grilled Betel Leaf Beef, Grilled Mustard Cabbage with Chicken, Grilled Lemongrass Minced Chicken, Grilled Eggplant, Grilled Mustard Cabbage with Pork, Grilled Pork Belly with Golden Mushroom, to Grilled Potatoes.

(Enjoy $1 Skewers at Mrs Pho Bussorah from 4th March 2023 – 26th March 2023. Applicable for classic skewers only and each person is limited to order up to 5 skewers.)

Completing the menu is a range of mains, quick bites and entrees like Sliced Beef Pho, Charcoal Grilled Meat Dry Noodles, Egg Fried Rice, Fresh Summer Roll with Grill Pork, Mrs Pho Cockles, Lemongrass and more.

Check out the following recommended items at Mrs Pho Bussorah for you to have a great Vietnamese meal out:

Grilled Kaffir Chicken ($1.80)
Juicy chicken with a beautifully grilled exterior embellished with aromatic kaffir lime leaf results in a savoury skewer with an appetising citrus punch.

Grilled Zucchini ($1.80)
Vegetarians will love the Grilled Zucchini. It has got a slightly crispy bite and the classic bitter-sweet taste of the summer squash.

Grilled Potato ($1.80)
The Grilled Baby Potatoes come doused in the appealing smokiness of the charcoal grill. Brushes of specially-made soy sauce-based concoction gives them a lovely savoury disposition.

Grilled Lemongrass Minced Chicken ($1.80)
Wrapping the chicken on a lemongrass stalk merges the tenderness of the minced meat with the ginger-like flavour of the lemongrass.

The grilling process helps elevate the tastiness while giving the chicken a bolder flavour.

Grilled Mekong Style Tiger Prawn ($2.80)
The prawns, in this case, are first brushed evenly with a speciality house-made sauce that gives the seafood a mildly-spicy kick.

They are then grilled on an open fire. A great food pairing to go with the Tiger Prawns is the Grilled King Oyster Mushroom.

Seafood Fried Spring Roll ($6.80)
Having a slightly elongated form, the Seafood Fried Spring Rolls have a thin crunchy covering and a juicy filling of prawn, squid, and fish.

Plated alongside, the house-made fish sauce dip is the ideal condiment to dunk in the rolls before every bite.

Should you desire a vegetarian version ($3.80), the spring rolls also come with yam, sweet potato, bean curd, and black fungus stuffing.

Glass Noodles ($6.80)
The subtle-tasting Glass Noodles at Mrs Pho get an earthy character as they get mixed around with mushrooms.

However, it is the accompanying scallion or mala oil that delivers a memorable tanginess.

Your choice depends on what you prefer, the scallion’s fragrance, or the spiciness of the Sichuan peppercorns and chilli peppers in the mala.

Egg Fried Rice ($6.80)
Mrs Pho’s Egg Fried Rice captures all the benefits of wok-hei and then gives the rice a flavour boost by adding garlic.

Diners can also pick between standard, spicy, or mala, each promising a more tongue-numbing palatability than the previous one.

Spicy Lemongrass Chicken ($22.80)
If the minced chicken lemongrass skewer is not enough to satiate your craving, opt for the Spicy Lemongrass Chicken instead.

Marinated to delicious perfection, the traditional dish consists of a whole Spring Chicken charcoal-grilled till it has a nice golden-brown skin.

The meat is succulent, and the smoke seeps into every morsel of the chicken, elevating its overall taste.

At the same time, lemongrass gives the meat a new dimension with its tangy and ever-so-light bitter-lemon flavour.

The chicken dish also comes along with deep-fried mochi-textured rice cakes and satisfying dips.

Additionally, diners get to wash down the skewers with ice-cold Saigon Beer, just like they do in the native country.

Since Vietnam’s leading Pilsner-style beer brand, Saigon Beer ($8.80) has a light taste and low-alcohol percentage, it goes rather well with grilled dishes, allowing the food flavours to shine.

However, choose the Saigon Special Beer ($8.80) if you wish to go a little artisanal. This larger has 100% malt content with hops, yeast, and water. Moreover, the beer has no preservatives either.
