Soi 47 has been an established go-to spot for authentic Thai food in Singapore for a while now.

The popular destination is now ready to welcome gourmands to their new dining space in Orchard Central at Level 4.

You can find their other outlets at Clarke Quay Central, Tiong Bahru, King George’s Avenue (Jalan Besar), and Toa Payoh.

What is worth nothing is that the restaurant’s ambiance is inviting and comfortable (especially with the tall ceilings), with a modern yet cosy interior.

As such, it is the ideal place to indulge in mouth-watering Thai delicacies with friends and family without spending too much while you take in the views of the iconic Orchard Road.

Some of Soi 47’s signature dishes include Steamed Sotong with Thai Lime Sauce, Pandan Chicken, Tom Yum Soup with Seafood, Claypot Tang Hoon with Prawns, and Red Ruby.

Spice Up Your Life with these other recommendations from Soi 47 Thai Food:

Claypot Tom Yam Mama with Prawns and Meatballs ($11.80)
Full-bodied, hearty, and filling, Soi 47’s Claypot Tom Yam Mama with Prawns and Meatballs is all that and more.

Served in a claypot, the base of this hot dish is a robust Tom Yam soup with an array of ingredients, from galangal to lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves, that give it an intricate and deep, sweet, sour, and mildly-spicy flavour.

What I liked was the addition of the onsen-style egg that enhanced the richness of the soup and gave it a creamier texture. The egg also helped balance the sour and spicy flavors of the soup, creating a more harmonious taste.

The Thai Mama instant noodles also form the heart of the dish, just simple and comforting.

Steamed Sea Bass with Thai Lime Sauce ($19.80)
If you come with your family or a group of friends, then ordering a fish is a must, since it is only $19.80 and is one of the most popular dishes across outlets.

Steamed till tender, the fresh sea bass arrives on the table in a fish-shaped presentation.

The Thai lime sauce that eventually ‘drowns’ the fish added this tangy, bright and refreshing flavour to the dish. Loved it.

Do allow an estimated 20-minute waiting time for the fish, and you can also opt for yours with soy sauce.

Homemade Thai Prawn Cake ($8.50 for 4 pcs)
Their Tod Mun Goong is the one side dish that I can order every time because it is hard to find hand-made Prawn Cakes in Singapore.

These were crispy on the outside and soft and juicy on the inside, made with fresh and succulent prawns.

Try it with a dip with the sweet Thai chilli sauce.

Stuffed Chicken Wings with Minced Chicken ($7.30 for 3 pcs)
These are Chicken Wings stuffed with a combination of minced chicken, fish paste, mushroom, and water chestnut with carrots for the added crunch, then deep fried.

All that effort.

Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, with a combination of fragrant and savoury flavours. Quite addictive.

Papaya Salad ($4.80)
The refreshing salad consists of shredded green papaya, bursting cherry tomatoes, and peanuts.

However, the flavour gets a real boost from the chilli and the tangy dressing that balances the taste but also provides a necessary spicy kick.

You can also opt for a version with Salted Egg ($6.50).

Thai Style Omelette ($6.50 with seafood, minced pork or onions)
Prices are really inexpensive considering this is in the heart of town. Thai Style Omelette for $6.50? Bring it on.

The omelette goes through a deep-frying process that makes it fluffier and gives it crispiness around the edges

It is made all the more appetizing with the addition of fresh seafood such as prawns and squid.

Customers can also opt for minced pork or onion versions.

Pineapple Fried Rice ($6.00)
Just simple eggy Pineapple Fried Rice added with cashew nuts which provide a nutty and crunchy texture, and pork floss which added a slight-salty flavour.

Other rice dishes you can choose from include Fried Olive Rice, Basil Pork Rice, Fried Rice with Seafood, Fried Rice with Beef, Tom Yum Fried Rice with Seafood, to the more indulgent Crabmeat Fried Rice.

Green Curry with Beef ($8.00)
The Gang Kiew Wan combines the creaminess of coconut milk, the invigorating punch of herbs and spices, and the tenderness of eggplant.

While there are versions of this curry with seafood, prawns, chicken, and pork, I decided to opt for something different and try it with beef, and it did not disappoint.

The Thai curry paste was filled with an array of flavors from ingredients such as basil, cilantro, garlic, shallots, lemongrass, and coconut milk, resulting in a curry that was rich in texture.

Chendol ($4)
To refresh your palate, you can indulge in the iconic iced dessert of Chendol.

The green pandan rice flour jellies are a delightful texture to bite into, while the creamed corn kernels and red kidney beans add an appealing contrast of colour and texture.

Mango Sticky Rice ($5)
Thailand’s quintessential must-have dessert, Mango Sticky Rice, comprising of sticky rice prepared with coconut milk and ripe, juicy mangoes.

The dessert gets its creamy texture from a generous helping of sweetened coconut cream on top.

Lychee Soda ($4.50), Longan Soda ($4.50)
Diners who want a little less sweetness and more refreshness to their drink can choose the Lychee or Longan Soda.

Both drinks are an energizing cooler made with fresh lychees or longan and soda water.

A thirst-quenching refreshing drink no matter the soda you pick, the perfect beverage on a hot day.
