Singapore’s love affair with Thai cuisine takes another exciting leap with the reopening of the iconic Golden Mile Thai Supermarket at Aperia Mall (of short walking distance from Lavender MRT).

Having catered to the local Thai community and Thai food enthusiasts since 1985, this specialty supermarket, is a one-stop-shop for all things Thai Food.

After Golden Mile Complex closed at Beach Road following its collective sale, Thai food lovers were feeling a sense of loss.

Thankfully, many of its restaurants have moved at resettled (many at City Gate Mall and Aperia Mall), such as BeerThai House, Golden Banana, Tha Chang Noodle Bar, and Diandin Leluk Thai Restaurant.

Step into a Thai food haven and explore a wide variety of quintessential Thai products that will undoubtedly whet your appetite.

Some of my favourites can be found here, from the classic Mama Oriental Kitchen Instant Noodles to Nissin Thai Signature Instant Noodles (Tom Yum Shrimp Red).

There are also addictive snacks like Koh-Kae Coated Peanuts, Veget Crisp, Manora Crab Crackers, and Lays Potato Chips in unique Thai flavours – the supermarket offers a plethora of options to quell your Thai cravings.

Not just limited to pantry staples, the supermarket also stocks up on popular Thai beverages, including Nestea Thailand with Thai Royal Milk Tea and Nescafe Iced Americano.

While its understandably not as cheap as what you would find in Thailand, the range of products is still considered competitively priced, making it an ideal destination for those who want a taste of Thailand without leaving Singapore.

Perhaps because I gone down during early opening hours, the crowd was still manageable. While there were long queues at the cashier, they clear in about 10 to 15 minutes.

Adding to the charm are two food stalls operated by the Thai restaurant Folks Collective.

Offering salads, Thai lunch bowls, a variety of Thai noodle dishes, snacks, and a selection of alcoholic and herbal drinks, these stalls bring the vibrant street food culture of Thailand right there on the outside of the supermarket.

One of the most popular stalls is Talad Thai Banana which sells Thai Fried Bananas ($4 for 6 pcs) and Sweet Potato Balls ($5 for 12 pcs) which are popular street food snacks in Thailand.

While they were crispy and potentially addictive especially after having them freshly fried, I did find them too greasy and that the oil could have been fresher-tasting.

For those with a sweet tooth, Yùng Yùng offers a tantalising array of drinks, including conventional Thai Milk Tea, Thai Green Milk Tea, and creative concoctions like Oreo Spin Smoothie, Lotus Biscoff Smoothie, and Peach Yogurt.

Yùng Yùng is also known for its delicious Yaowarat Bread Buns, adding to the diversity of offerings.

Thai Supermarket, sprawling across a generous floor space, offers a wide range of products imported directly from Thailand.

Shoppers can expect to find an extensive selection of Thai groceries, snacks, fresh produce, and ready-to-eat meals, encompassing the flavours and dishes Thailand is famous for.
