The lunch time queue of The Salad Corner at GSH Plaza was so enormously long, that it could take about 30 to 45 minutes to get your salads.

And there were two lines – one for the “Warm Salad Box”, the other for a “Create Your Own Salad” – which was cold. Two different order sheets as well, so don’t get confused.

People were willing to queue. Busy, time-pressed CBD workers were willing to queue.

The Salad Corner was set up in June 2010, with the idea of providing more affordable salad options to the consumers within the Central Business District.

I listed the stall tops in an entry of 10 Best Salad Shops in Singapore due to its freshness, variety of dressings and affordability.

The first encounter was at Amoy Street Food Centre, then Market Street Food Centre, where basic salads with 5 toppings were sold at a very-affordable $4.90. That price is not to be seen now, of course.

Inflation, rental, labour, more premium ingredients.

Over at the new outlet at GSH Plaza (just opposite Mo-ii), it would look all peaceful and calm before the 11:30am crazy hour would start.

A regular Warm Salad Box with 1 protein and 5 toppings would cost $8.90, 2 proteins $10.90, 3 proteins $12.90.

To be fair, very reasonable when compared to other salad shops around the Raffles Place. If time is not money.

I have tried almost all the protein choices, from BBQ Chicken, Thai Grilled Chicken, Salmon (+$3.00), Saba Fillet (+$1.50), Beef (+$2.00) and Portobello Mushroom. A lot of pluses.

If you would like something more flavourful, both the Thai Grilled Chicken and BBQ Chicken should provide some juicy pleasures. But go easy on the dressing, if calorie-watch is your main concern.

I found the plainer Chicken Breast rather tasty and moist too, compared to other places where chicken breast meat would often be too dry and sliced up into overly-shrivelled pieces.

For dressings, the recommended ones are The Japanese Sesame, Yuzu & Soy and Honey Mustard.

Others included Basil & Garlic, Balsamic Vinaigrette with Olive Oil, Lemon Zest & Oil, Olive Oil, Thai Lemongrass, Sriracha Chill, and Cilantro Lime. They tend to be quite generous with the portion as well.

My only reservations were the long wait time (so I would go off peak), and slightly confusing queueing system – especially if you have never bought from them before. I suspect they could have been a long faster if they worked out the internal processes and system as well.
