[Bangkok] Whether visitors to Bangkok are on the hunt for some seriously cool el Dia de los Muertos décor, or the most authentic of Mexican dishes, The Mexican at Rajah Complex is the venue to get to.

The fully stocked bar certainly adds to the draw of this restaurant as well.

The Mexican, contrary to its name, is owned by two Americans.

It has already worked its way up in the Mexican cuisine scene to be a top contender for tasty dishes, and a vibrant atmosphere to boot.

The interior is inspired by el Dia de los Muertos, otherwise known as the Day of the Dead. It is the Mexican traditional celebration of the Circle of Life.

The restaurant keeps to the theme in its entirety, and even a large A La Calavera Catrina portrait greets visitors upon entering.

The menu is divided up into ten sections: appetisers, salads, soups, tacos, burritos, enchiladas, fajitas, Mexican specialities, a la carte and Mexican desserts.

Diners can kick off a meal with a bowl of Fresh Guacamole and Chips (170 baht, SGD$7.02) or Mexican-inspired salad, like the Fiesta Chicken Salad (250 baht, SGD$10.32), made with seasoned, juicy chargrilled chicken breast.

Mains include the Salsa Verde Enchiladas combo (375 baht, SGD$15.49) – three soft corn tortillas that are filled with your choice of ingredients before being smothered in The Mexican’s homemade salsa verde.

The restaurant prides itself on its imported chillies, hailing all the way from Mexico.

The best dessert of them is arguably the Sopapillas (100 baht, SGD$4.13) – golden fried flour tortillas sprinkled with both cinnamon and sugar, served with butter and honey and topped with chocolate and strawberry syrup.

Be sure to check The Mexican’s website before visiting, as the eatery has daily specials.

On Thursdays, ladies can order mojitos and margaritas for only 120 baht (SGD$4.96), with 20 percent off seafood ceviche and all salads.

For those hankering for a Mexican meal in Bangkok, and are not too worried about price.

Besides, it is located right off the BTS Skytrain, good to kick off a night out on the town.
