Perhaps you have never been to this Curry Rice eatery nestled on Level 3 of the Fortune Centre, near Bugis.

Operating since 2013, this no-frills eatery, despite its slightly hidden location, has managed to charm a steady stream of nearby office workers over the years, creating a faithful following.

Its impending closure on August 12, as reported by AsiaOne, undoubtedly casts a shadow of disappointment over its regular patrons.

This humble restaurant has carved a niche for itself by offering a selection of hearty, comforting, and above all, affordable Japanese curry dishes.

Their Pork Katsu Curry Rice, priced at a modest $8.50, exemplifies this.

In an effort to remain pocket-friendly, they have thoughtfully chosen to use American short-grain rice. However, the cost-cutting measure does not detract from the overall experience.

The pork katsu, breaded and deep-fried until golden brown, presents a crunch that gives way to juicy pork.

The real star, however, is the curry – thick, slightly sweet, and slightly spiced.

The thick cuts of Salmon Sashimi are generously portioned – five pieces for $16 – with each slice promising a melt-in-the-mouth experience.

For me, the standout dish has to be the Ebi Mango Maki ($13).

This vibrant roll includes deep-fried breaded prawn, contrasting with the soft texture of the honey-sweetened mango.

The roll is then garnished with popping flying fish roe, adding a salty burst to every bite.

It is a sad note that this culinary hideaway is set to close soon, a loss that will undoubtedly be felt by its regular customers. So, make a date, head over to Fortune Centre.
